Media Studies: Character Profiles

Name: Steve
Age: 23
About:
Steve is a very normal man, he is the average joe in the real world. He is someone you can relate to in almost every aspect of life. After graduating Sheffield Hallam University with a 2:1 in Business admin and Accounting he is in a stable and normal admin job earning a good £19,482 a year. Steve doesn't have any high aspirations, maybe one day he wants to be the CEO of a big firm but lets be real, like that's ever gonna happen! Steve does however have one dream, the dream we all share and have done ever since we knew what money was. He wants to be rich. There is one problem with Steve's dream, he hardly does anything to accomplish it. (Well lets be honest, you don't either do you?). Just like the rest of us (and is expected at 23) he likes to go out often to party, get drunk with his friends (which surprisingly he has a few) and forget about his boring life. He does more or less the same thing every week, with a few minor differences of course. Let's be honest, Steve's boring but he's fairly happy and that's all that matters.
Writers notes:
Steve is the character we want the audience to relate with. We want you to look at this generic guy and realise that you are him. We have created him so generic with the hope that as many people relate to him as possible. He leads a normal life and is a normal guy. There's nothing about him that is special or different he is just average. Steve's persona is reflected throughout the storyline as he isn't special and doesn't win the lottery, there's nothing lucky about him and towards the end of the film you hope that he has won something but he hasn't, he just has an ordinary life that isn't going to change.

Name: Luke
Age: 24
About:
Luke however isn't normal. He's the type of guy to make an impulse trip to the Maldives at 2:23pm on a Tuesday afternoon. Luke left school with only 3 GCSE's to his name and dropped out of college at aged 17 to take an impulse trip to Thailand and traveled Asia for 2 years. Somehow he found his way into Sheffield Hallam University studying Creative writing and even managed to change his choice to Viniculture and Oenology which is basically the study of wine!  (Yes, before you ask this is a real course). Luke is currently 'In-between jobs', at least that is what he tells the government and his family. The truth is, Luke sells many different kinds of drugs in his spare time (some of which you've probably never heard of) and is currently writing a short story to be published 'sometime soon' which basically means no time soon. Luke loves to party and is never still. The craziest thing about Luke is from the outside he looks like an average guy but believe you me, he's not. He describes himself as 'Spiritual' when in reality, he's actually just bonkers. That being said, theres just something between Luke and Steve that just clicks. They've been best friends since freshers when Steve took something he got from Luke which to this day he swears to this day wasn't anything from this planet. Sure they fight a lot, even over the pettiest of things but maybe that's just because they're so different. Luke somehow manages to always have money in his pocket and I'm not too sure if he has any dreams or goals because he lives in the moment and does random crazy things whenever he feels like. Let's be honest Luke's crazy but he's fairly happy and that's all that matters.
Writers notes:
Luke is the guy you want to be. The type of guy you wish you were. He does things on impulse and lives in the moment. We created Luke with the hope that you look at him and the stuff he does and just think: 'I want to be that guy'. We're wanting the audience to be (low key) envious of Luke which is exactly what Steve is.
