In a drama, sound is plenty different from what was any other genre represents. Drama has the interpretation of a slow & mellow signature for what the genre is. This is a good way of establishing a scene because slower music works with a lot more scenes, because a drama is not anything specific, and it doesn't have a in-detail way of portraying a drama, like a horror does, it can work with many films.
Looking through soundcloud, there's a lot of good sounds that could establish/work with a scene.
This one is quite hip-hop/folk style of a music genre. This works well because it is slow and elegant, but the BPM isn't too high so it doesn't feel like the scene has this music forced into it. A lot of tv-shows use establishing sounds like this. This music sounds like it is going to be played after the storyline has been resolved. this is good for the audience as the song gives an optimistic ending, which can be used for lighter hearted storylines.
Some films/tv-shows go as far as using very little music, by just using drums to build an intensity of the scene, it can be very effective. We intend on using this in our film, but for me, I found that there's not much out there for just use of drums that isn't copyrighted, as it is typically a solo instrumental for songs in indie bands such as Arctic Monkeys.
There isn't much choice for us to use for our film, but we don't need specific music, such as something we would hypothetically use in a thriller or horror, or something alike. My opinion is that most music will fit our film.
An example of easily implemented music is something that Mumford and Sons do, they can create calm folky music, with use of acoustics such as the guitar.
