Media Studies: Location Photos + Descriptions

This is the kitchen. This is one of the most prominent sets on our film as many of the very important scenes will be filmed there. Most noticeably the scene in which Steve is dramatically looking for the lottery ticket that he has misplaced somewhere that he doesn't know. It will also feature in the morning montage where Steve is making his breakfast and will play a big part in the final fight between Steve and Luke. We have decided upon the kitchen to create these scenes in because of the fact that it is a large open space in which we can experiment a lot if need be. The kitchen is also the set where Luke will place the money down on the table before going out. This is a vital scene as Luke gives Steve the money for the lottery ticket, this becomes extremely important information later on in the film. As a result of this, we needed somewhere bright, with a table, where we can use the natural light. The kitchen fit this description perfectly so will be used vastly during our film.

This is the living room. This will, like the kitchen, feature a lot of the main scenes in our film. Most prominently the scene in which Steve will hear that there has been a winning lottery ticket unclaimed in his area and the fight scene between Steve and Luke over the ownership of the lottery ticket at the end of the film. This is one of the most pivotal scenes in the film so we need somewhere there will be a lot of room for the actors to throw each other around without actually causing damage of hurt one another. This living room will be ideal for this scene due to the rug in the middle of the room as this will ensure that no ones is harming during production.

This is the doorway. Like previous sets in our film it will be one of the most pivotal scenes in the film. This will be the scene where Steve will hit Luke and Luke will be killed. With this scene Steve's biggest problem is created as the police soon find what has happened and come after him, this is the moment where Steve changes his life for the worse. We have chosen to do this scene in the doorway because it is next to the door so is easy to be seen from outside when the door is open which is vital as the body will be seen by a character passing by. It is also important because it signifies that the fight is coming to an end. As they move through the house they eventually get to the exit of the house which is symbolic of the end of the fight sequence, the end of Luke's life and the entrance to all of Steve's problems.

Finally, this is the outside of the house and the driveway along with the car. This set will be used when Steve leaves the house after the fight and is on his way to the shop to claim his apparent winnings which he believes he has. The outside of the doorway will be very important as this is where Steve will be shown getting his shoes and stumbling out of the house. This shot will highlight the extent of damage of which Luke has caused to Steve despite Steve coming out on top in the end. He will be shown walking away into the distance as the sun sets on his horrendous day. This is also a necessary scene as the rest of the film is shot indoors, with this scene comes an element of diversity in terms of the locations of the film which is something that is very important to us.
