Maleficent
This is the film poster for the Disney film Maleficent. I chose to analyse this poster because it is a very simple yet effective design. The plain background on this poster gives more life to the main image of the poster. It makes sure that people focus their attention on the main image and not anywhere else. The main image is what a person would focus on upon seeing the film poster. Colour red lipstick gives the impression that she may be in danger or causing danger throughout the course of the film. this is very important when it comes to portraying the image of the film.
Below the main image is the title of the film which could also indicate that this is the name of the main actress as the image is centre right in the middle of the title. This gives the audience an idea of what the main character might be called which could also give clues as to what they might be like.
The release date of the movie is also on show in this poster. This indicates when the film will become available for viewing, usually as the cinema. This is important as it ensures that the audience will know exactly when they can go and see the film and they won't make any losses.
"Disney" helps to sell the film as people will recognise the company as well established and popular. They will also attract fans of the production company and people who enjoy watching Disney films. Because of the fact that Disney is such a big name it will be very effective having this name on the film poster and the film will enjoy many more views as a result of this.
At the top of the poster is the name of the actress in the movie. Having the name ion the main actress at the top of the poster attracts people to see the film as the actress is a highly renowned Hollywood star. This will attract people who aren't necessarily interested in this genre of film but really like the actress so decide to give the film a chance.
